Karen Sosa, PhD Professional Level Educational Therapist (ET/P)

My first experience with educational therapy was as a parent with a struggling student, and educational therapy was recommended. Seeking educational therapy changed my child’s life. Grades went up, and school was no longer a battle. Once I saw the difference it made in our lives, I decided that I wanted to be a part of that for others.

I have been in education for many years. I received my Ph.D. in Linguistics and taught at the college level for ten years. But I always knew that it is more rewarding to help students one-on-one in a supportive setting rather than in a classroom. I received a post master’s certificate in Educational Therapy from Cal State Northridge and became Orton-Gillingham Certified.

Since then, I have worked with students in both school settings and in private practice. I have the research and experience with best teaching practices, know the best interventions, and overall, the best way to help students. I enjoy working and helping students and their families.

Born and raised in Guadalajara, I have been passionate about education for as long as I can remember. For the past 15 years, I have dedicated my professional career to supporting students and families through education and therapeutic services.

I earned my bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Guadalajara, where I also completed my Master’s degree n Education. In addition, I obtained my Educational Therapy certificate from the University of California, Riverside. I am also certified as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) through the Autism Partnership Foundation.

Over the last 15 years, I have had the opportunity to live and work in several states, including Alabama, Arizona, Michigan, and now California. These experiences have enriched my understanding of diverse educational systems, cultures, and student needs.

Throughout my career, I have focused on working with neurodiverse children and adolescents, providing individualized academic, behavioral, and emotional support. My goal as an Educational Therapist is to empower students by helping them build confidence, develop learning strategies, and reach their full potential in a supportive and inclusive environment.
